Local Spotlight July Q&A | The Hunt For Style

Hello Y'all,

For this month Local Spotlight I am so excited to introduce Hunter from, The Hunt for Style. Last month we did a fun collaboration. With her official launch party this week (see details below) there couldn't be a better time to learn more about Hunter. The style blogger turned social media guru! Last week I sent Hunter a bunch of questions to answer and y' all she did not disappoint!

Tell us a little bit about yourself! Hubby, Turtle oh my! Give us the details!!

For starters, I was born and raised right here in Hartsville! After four years of studying Creative Writing at The University of South Carolina, I moved back to marry my sweet Michigan native, Andrew, and we currently reside uptown with our persnickety kitty, Turtle! Every part of us building our little family unit revolves around Hartsville—from where Andrew and I met, to our wedding, to where we first found sweet T, and everything in-between!

What is The Hunt for Style and what inspired you to start The Hunt for Style?

The Hunt for Style is my creative space where I can encourage others to embrace their own personal styles in a chic, yet attainable way. It began as a simple blog and has morphed into a lifestyle brand where I can also implement elements of style into others' business spheres through my social media, copywriting, and blogging services.

How would you describe your personal style in three words?

Oh, my goodness! I've always prided myself on not fitting into a "box" per se, so my three words would have to be eclectic, fearless, and fun! I wear whatever makes me feel best on any given day.

Where do you find inspirations? And what has inspired you recently?

I draw inspiration from those I surround myself with. I have such an eclectic family & friend group (see above about not fitting into a "box"!), so I always have a different quality to play off of. For example, I have a best friend who is a bit grungy, and one who reminds me of a Disney princess. So becomes the merger of the band tee with an ethereal midi skirt—the options are endless when you have fun sources to draw from!

Recently, I've been drawing inspiration from this heat! Finding ways to remain stylish, but cool has proven to be my biggest challenge yet!

What would you consider your favorite social media/digital platform?

I just love Instagram! (Find me at @thehuntforstyle!) To me, it's like a giant photo album where you can take a peek into others' highlight reels. And while I always have to remind myself that it's just that—a HIGHLIGHT reel—I feel like Instagram is also merging into a place where encouraging messages and self-love are becoming more prevalent, and it's refreshing. I try to implement those things into my platform, as well.

What advice would you give other bloggers, creators, or people branching out on their dreams?

Don't wait! The Hunt for Style was a dream 3 or 4 years in the making, and I let fear of judgment put a "pause" on that. You're not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and that's okay. Pursue that dream for yourself and whatever your higher purpose is, and you'll find that your perfect audience will naturally gravitate toward you and fill your cup in a way I never imagined possible!

What do you enjoy to do in your free time?

What free time?! ;) I love traveling to new places when I have a chance, but currently, my free time is being spent at rehearsals for Florence Little Theater's "Matilda"! I'm playing Mrs. Wormwood, and being the villain is so much fun! (Show runs September 13-21!)

Do you have a favorite place to shop locally?

We are so fortunate to have such diverse shops in downtown Hartsville—everyone has a little something different to offer! I worked at Minnie's for close to 10 years, so it certainly has a special place in my heart. And their neighbor, COAST on Carolina, is another one of my go-tos for all things breezy & beachy!

Any fun details about your launch party we need to know??

YAY! The Hunt for Style Launch Party is this Wednesday, the 24th at 6 pm at Retrofit Sip-n-Seat. It's just a fun way for me to share the heart of my brand and say "thank you" to those who have supported me thus far. Come out for champagne, yummy bites, and a giveaway of some of my favorite things! Wear whatever makes you feel most stylish—I'll be the one in pink!

Blessings from Hartsville,
