Crisp Air and Warm Hues

Hello, Y'all!

Last week the leaves seemed to have changed overnight from summery green to golden yellow. Oh, we are now living in a sepia-filtered world! With the golden tones, and crisper air I have been in full Fall wardrobe mode. I have been itching to wear my coats and thicker sweaters - finally, the time has arrived! We took advantage of this beautiful season by going to brunch and exploring the city of Birmingham a little.

For someone that lives in the deep South, in the heart of Alabama, I have a lot of coats and sweaters to choose from. A coat can complement your outfit instead of just being a functional piece. So, naturally, I have many different colors, textures, and styles to mix with any outfit. My all-time favorite coats are the ones found at auctions, antique stores, and even in my great aunts closest. The tailored detail of the vintage pieces is irresistible. Golden tones and cool temperatures made this brown/tan long coat a no-brainer. The large buttoned cuffs and back with the thick velvet collar is a step back in time. This coat also reminded me of one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Rosie of The Londoner. Her classic and timeless style is something I really enjoy and relate to.

Of course, I did not go to brunch in only a coat. The vintage brown coat was styled with a simple but very soft wine colored sweater. I found this one at Nordstrom Rack for less than 20 dollars! The sweater runs really small so I went with an extra large and it fits closer to a medium. This wine sweater matched perfectly with my new favorite skirt! My wrap skirt is from the Loft and is tailored beautifully. The stripes are such a wonderful representation of Autumn tones and fits perfectly into the scene. It even has a very small pop of pink! Plus, the fit is very comfortable. The wrap skirt is structured enough to stay put and create a clean look without being stiff and uncomfortable. I knew I wanted to style the skirt with my top tucked in because of the fun wrap structural detail, so I went with an 8P. One of my favorite things about the Loft is the wide array of petite clothing. I never buy items at full price but I had to with this skirt and I have no regrets!!
