Apple Picking {Tennessee Adventures}

Hello, Y'all!

Last Saturday we went on a day trip up to Tennessee to find ourselves some apples and a little Fall fun! The weather was absolutely beautiful and a perfect day for a road trip. We jumped in the car and headed Northeast to closet apple orchard I could find, in the small town of Dunlap, Tennessee. Dunlap is about 45 minutes outside of Chattanooga and so, about a three-hour drive from the southside of Birmingham, Alabama. For many spending six hours in the car sounds ridiculous, especially just for apples, but I loved it. I find all car trips without an agenda very relaxing and found myself taking a very nice cat-nap.

Wheeler's Orchard and Vineyard you find yourself winding up a mountain far from the heart of town. Not going to lie, I was a bit nervous that we had no idea where we were going, until I saw the first sign pointing us toward the orchard. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a fun-filled Fall festival. They had everything from carriage rides, to clowns and face painting. And of course, they had apples! Due to it being the end of the season, many of the trees had already been picked over. But this did not dim our excitement, we still found some beautiful apples waiting for us on the trees. (If you were to go apple picking here, they said the best time is late August to mid-September.) We still did not go home empty-handed, they allowed us to fill our bag with some of the prepicked apples, so we needed up with a full peck of delicious apples to eat and cook with.

They also had a stand of beautiful variety of Amish baked goods for sale, so clearly we brought home more than just apples. And oh my goodness! The bake goods included some of the best sweet potato bread and banana nut bread! Before heading home we spent some time feeding the farm animals and laughing at the silly mannerisms of the pony and donkey. Boy, did they want the feed bags! Then we got in the car and headed back to Birmingham for an evening of football and kitty/puppy snuggles.

Such happy memories were made on Saturday! What is your favorite Autumn memory? Maybe it is the time you got lost and laughed your way through a corn maze? Or is it bobbing for apples during the annual Halloween Party? Leave your memory below!

Blessings form Birmingham!
